Fundraising Through Arduous Action

A fundraising film highlighting the struggle of cancer patients by comparing their battle to the greatest elevation gain hike in the United States—a single-day, 10,000-foot ascent—demonstrating that no physical challenge compares to fighting cancer.

My Role

I led the story development, coordinated logistics, secured and led a second shooter, communicated with the editor, interviewed participants, and filmed them on their journey up the mountain.

Objective

To secure donations to support individuals who cannot afford their cancer treatments or transportation to the hospital.

The project spanned two days, during which we prepared for the adventure, conducted interviews, and completed the journey.

Timeline

Tools and Tech

For this trip, I utilized multiple lights, stabilization equipment, several cameras, my 24mm and 85mm lenses, and my Bedrock sandals.

Reflections

I believe in the cause of this film and was grateful to be part of it. However, I wish I had been more involved in the editing process, as I felt the final product didn’t fully capture the essence of our mission—evident in the headlines that missed the mark. A more hands-on approach could have made a significant difference. That said, we still raised over $15,000 through this project.
